The Alumni of Westbury Friends School are an important part of the school. We are tremendously gratified to know that the children who come to the school develop an attachment that is based upon the kind of education the school provides. Over the years, the children sense the warmth and nurturance that is pervasive in the school. In addition, our programs of academic excellence and social competency build in our students a sense of self worth. They have learned much in the way of critical thinking and they have been empowered to believe in their ability to make decisions. When they move on, they take with them this level of confidence and skill.
Because of these accomplishments, they look back with affection to the School where they gained this firm foundation and love of learning. They hold reunions; they come back to nurture their memories and to see their teachers. At the end of Spirit Week each spring, the School sponsors a celebration of alums from the many different surrounding communities from which they come: they gather to reconnect and catch up, and enjoy returning to the place where it all began.
The Alums also stay connected through the news and information that comes to them from the school. They receive newsletters and other printed materials. We ask them to send us information regarding where they are and what they are up to through our website.
Recently, a group has been established on Facebook for WFS alum. Started with only two members, it is growing steadily.
